Activities Resume!

Special Olympics 2021 (Medium)

As clients have been vaccinated and county restrictions lift, we are grateful to be able to safely resume activities!  Clients have trained for and participated in Special Olympics and triathlons. Others have been swimming and biking, and some are playing softball!

Happy Summer, friends!!! It’s summer in the Gunnison Valley again, and what a difference there is between this year and last.  We are so grateful for the support of our community and so glad to see our many summer visitors and residents.

Here’s another item for your summer fun list.  It’s not too late to go out and cheer on the SIx Points All Stars Softball Team!  Upcoming games at Jorgensen Park in Gunnison:  *July 13 at 7:45 and 9 pm; *July 20 at 7:45 pm; and *July 27 at 6:30 pm.  Just watch for the purple bats covered in glitter and you’ll be in the right place! In the spring, Six Points received a wonderfully generous donation from a community member in the form of a FORD EXPLORER!  Scott Trotter kindly donated this vehicle, in mint condition, for our staff to transport clients in.  We use our vehicles on a daily basis to transport clients to medical appointments, grocery shopping, laundromat, physical therapy, recreational activities, athletic events, spiritual services, and out of town trips.  Thank you, Scott, for contributing a safe and reliable vehicle to Six Points!!!

Another exciting piece of news is that we are getting ready to purchase a new wheelchair-accessible van.  Many, Many thanks to our generous donors for making this happen!  The current van has served us very well but is now 20 years old.  The lift is not trouble-free and unfortunately, the passenger has to sit facing backwards with a view of the lift.  The new van will allow all passengers to face forward and has a user-friendly ramp instead of a lift.

Best wishes for a wonderful summer from all of us at Six Points!!
