Dear Six Points Friends and Neighbors:

As we begin our annual Share the Season fundraising drive, reflecting back over years of generous contributions from this community, we invite you to show your support for Six Points by making a gift during the upcoming holiday season.

Six Points is so much more than a thriving thrift store. You may know that Six Points supports local adults with disabilities so that they may continue to live independently in our community. Did you also know that Six Points provides work for many individuals and supports others at their community jobs in Gunnison and Crested Butte?

You may be acquainted with many of our clients. During COVID-19, many of them have been staying safe at home to prevent the spread of the virus. They are doing well and we all wish to say, “Thank You!” to each and every individual who makes a donation or purchases items from our thrift store, because you are supporting our clients and helping them continue to live independently.

Despite the many challenges of this year, we would like to share a few successes from 2020. All our clients and staff have remained healthy. Six Points staff have demonstrated incredible dedication and creativity in finding ways to provide safe alternative services that meet our clients’ needs: gardening, outdoor recreation, picnics, and remote story time via Zoom to name just a few. The thrift store continues to provide essential revenue with the support of donations from the community.

Yet, even with all these successes, Six Points relies on contributions, grants, and gifts to operate. We are going into the winter season with a few more needs than usual this year:

  • Providing PPE for our service providers has been an additional expense to keep everyone safe.
  • Our van with the wheelchair lift has been struggling and will soon need to be replaced.
  • As Colorado minimum wage increases, the cost of living in the Gunnison valley grows, and Medicaid rates are cut, it becomes more and more difficult to pay our essential service providers adequately.

The holiday season is approaching once again, as we make our way in the new normal of 2020. Make your gifts unique and special this year.  As you consider what sort of gift to give to a friend or family member, consider the option to Share the Season and purchase a gift certificate or sponsor a contribution in their honor to Six Points. Six Points relies on donations to support the people we serve.  Every donation, small or large, makes a tremendous difference!

With deepest gratitude,
